What Causes Red Bumps On The Arms While On Lamotrigine And Citalopram?

My son started taking 25 mg Lamotrigine on 3/21/17 along with 10 mg Citalopram. He was doing ok with the combination however his dose was increased to 20 mg Citalopram which he started yesterday. I noticed he has several red bumps, not itchy, on both arms and one hand tonight. He said he noticed it yesterday but did not mention it. His doctors office is closed right now. Any advice?

Hi there. It is very good that you picked up the rash on his skin. It could be an hypersensitive reaction to either drugs but the most probable culprit is the Lamotrigine. Continued use could lead to it worsening and lead to Stevens Johnsons syndrome. I would recommend to stop the Lamotrigine and continue on the Citalopram and see if the rash clears.
