What Causes Red Blisters On The Surgical Site Post A Mastectomy?

Hi. My mom had a mastectomy 6months ago and now is really worried because the area is becoming very red and purple there are blisters and sores appearing. She is concerned that it is the cancer returning that is causing it and is too scared to see the doc again because she just cannot go through all that pain again. What could be causing this

This isn't a return of the cancer, but it sounds like she's developed shingles from the chicken pox virus. It can be treated with acyclovir 400 mg five times a day for a week but if it isn't treated it usually resolves in a week or two.
