Out of the blue, nauseous and then violent throwing up, then headache. No fever not food poisioning. Test I have had: ultrasound of abdomen, mri of head, exray, endoscopy, coloniscopy both gall bladder tests. All normal. This has happened over 3 years 5 times and require hospitalization to stop throwing up and dehydration. Any ideas? Age 70 white male.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice. I am understanding your concern. As per your query you have recurring nausea, violent throwing up and headache. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query anxiety disorder, panic attack, peptic ulcer, heart rhythm disorder, drug overdose, allergic reaction or anemia.

I would suggest you to consult general practitioner for proper diagnosis. Doctor will take history. Doctor may prescribe anti allergic drug along with antiemetic. Doctor may refer you to gastroenterologist for stomach problem.

For now take over the counter antihistamine like benadryl. Also drink green tea with ginger thrice a day.

Hope your concern has been resolved. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Get Well Soon.

Best Wishes,
Dr. Harry Maheshwari
