What Causes Recurring Chest Infection And Sinusitis?

I was recently prescribed a z-pak for pneumonia. I had chest congestion and sinus infection. I saw immediate improvement with my sinuses. My cough and phlegm productions lessened. My thick yellow phlegm went away by day 3. By this point very minimal clear mucous was being coughed up, which I attributed to my sinuses draining. Yesterday morning I finished my last dosage of the 5 day z-pak. This morning my cough began returning and my phlegm began returning to yellow and thick again. I understand that a z-pak continues to work after finishing the pak. I am wondering if I need to return to the doctor or wait it out and see.

HI
Well come to HCM
I really appreciate your concern, if this is the cough symptoms only and it is productive then it will be there for some time even after the eradication of underlying infection, and this is nothing to worry, for symptomatic relief from the cough Dextromethorphan cough drops can be used else it is nothing to worry hope this information helps.
