What Causes Recurring Abdominal Cramps And Nausea In A Teenager?

My is 15 years old and has been complaining of stomach problems for more than a month. He gets stomach cramps that seem to occur at night and are relieved by a carbonated drink like sprite or ginger ale and lying down or getting in a sitting position. When I palpated his abdomen tonight the pain the pain was generalized in the abdomen area but seemed to have the most pain in the right and some in the middle abdomen. He gets nauseated as well. I m just concerned about appendicitis.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

It could be due to gastritis. As a first line management he can try antacids like Omeprazole or Pantoprazole for symptomatic relief. If symptoms persists better to consult a gastroenterologist and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
