What Causes Recurring UTIs?

Hello Doctor, I have this constant complain of UTI. Unfortunately, since this was really painful and also because of my ignorance I used to take antibiotics like Lexoflox, which gradually (due to overuse) lost its ability to cure my UTI. The last time I did a culture test, my body showed immunity to most of the oral drugs and I had to take injections. A few days back I again contracted UTI and had to take injections again. My question is, what could be the possible reasons and remedies for this and is there anything you suggest to make sure I get rid of it. Thanks - Vaishali

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

There can be various reasons for recurrent urinary tract infection as:
- Drug resistance from previous over use
- Inadequate hydration
- Hygiene problems
- Excess perspiration
- Diabetes
- Low immunity
- Side effects of other drugs as chronic analgesic consumption
- Sexually transmitted infection related

Kindly do follow up with complete details of symptoms and urine culture report for further discussion.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
