What Causes Recurrent Urinary Tract Infection?

Hi doctor I am a 31 year old female who has had 4 uti infections these past two months. I ve been on four different antibiotics and when I went to my GP yesterday and yet again he wanted to put me on various antibiotics. I said that I feel I should have an ultrasound. I have been very sick high tempertures constant pain in right and left flank but mostly in the left flank. I had my ultrasound and they found a simple renal cyst 3.5cm* 3.2cm *3.6 cm in the pole of my left kidney. Im sick of antibiotics, I drink tons of water, cranberry juice and wear appropriate underwear. I do everything I have been told however my pain and uti persist can this be linked to the cyst?

Hi, dear I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern. You have recurrent urinary tract infection. You may have diabetes. You should check your blood sugar level. Diabetes is one of the most common cause of recurrent urinary tract infection.

You should also check for culture and sensitivity test and take antibiotics accordingly. Levofloxacin or norfloxacin can be helpful.

Your cyst has no relation with infection mostly. It can cause pain. It can be treated by aspiration or surgery.

Hope I have answered your question, if you have doubt then I will be happy to answer. Thanks for using health care magic. Wish you a very good health.
