Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have had frequent uninary infection s in the past.but haven't had one in awhile. It stung badly when I went to urinate this morning and only a trickle came out. I have only been able to get small amount out. A few hours ago I noticed it was pink, not there it is getting darker, more blood. I'm working on the road so a prescription for macrobid has been called in for me but I cant pick it up until tomorrow. Should I be concerned about anything else?
Hello There are many causes of frequent Urinary Tract Infection. Though they sometimes are different in males and females because of anatomical structures of males and females. Although females are more prone to Urinary Tract infection because the anus is closer to their vagina.
Other causes of UTI may include Bladder infection, urethral infection, enlarged prostrate in males..etc..
As you have mentioned you already have experienced frequent episodes of Urinary Tract Infection that means you are more prone to the infection. Since the symptoms have already been shown by your body, so I would recommend you to take medicine as early as you can. Drink a plenty of water. Fresh Coconut water is a great choice if you can get. Cranberry juice will help you. Lemon water is also helpful Do not hold urine for longer duration. Holding urine for long time is the most common cause of infection.
Thanks Dr. Tripat Mehta
