What Causes Recurrent Shortness Of Breath During Night?
I m becoming very short of breath very suddenly and it occurs mostly at night when I m sitting there doing pretty much nothing. I have had a cough on and off for about 2 years now and I m eying a little worried with this reoccurring shortness of breath when I m not even moving. What should I do?

As per your query you have shortness of breath specially at night and cough at night . Well the symptoms you mention in query can occur due to many reasons like sinusitis , post nasal drip , due to allergens , air conditioner silent acid reflux and acid reflux ( GERD) . But in your case it seems to me that the probable reasons for shortness of breath and cough at night occur due to acid reflux disease ( silent reflux ) . I would suggest you to avoid eating spicy and heavy meal specially at night , eat light and frequent meals , take light walk after every meal and take antacid after every meal . Consult gastroentrologist for proper diagnosis . Doctor may order x-ray of upper digestive track , endoscopy of esophagus and acidity test . Doctor may prescribe proton pump inhibitor or H2 blockers . Doctor may also refer you ENT specialist .
