What Causes Recurrent Red Spots On Arms Post Injury?

Lately, when I bump my arms (so far only right arm) on anything, even lightly, I get red spots that I often see on elderly people. I am 58 and use Advair for asthma control. Otherwise very healthy, eat healthy, not over weight (5 8 144 lbs). I used to be a sun baby (freckly skin) and there is ITP in the family (grandmother and aunt). I get regular check ups and nothing has been out of the ordinary. I take an herbal/over the counter menopausal tx which helps a bit with hot flashes.

Hello and welcome to HCM
From your history and age, the spots do seem like trauma related spots and petechiae. As you age , your skin becomes fragile along with the tiny blood vessels in it, and bumps can cause tiny bleeders, appearing as spots and patches.
Also since you are on advair(not sure for how long), long term steroid use does to an extent cause thinning of skin (mainly on application , but long term use can cause it too).
OTC and herbal preparations have ingredients that react differently and cause different side effects i patients, so check with your doc about using them.
Since you have an important family history of ITP, it is possible that you are prone to similar complaints. Get a routine blood test with platelet levels and if advised test for ITP.
It maybe nothing to worry about and just age related changes, but consult your doctor with your family history, to keep a watch.
They do not require treatment if trauma related and will fade away. If there are any large bruises, apply Thrombophob ointment for a few days.
Hope this helps.
