What Causes Recurrent Itchy Circular Rashes On The Neck, Chest And Forearms?

I have a recurring circular rash on my neck, chest and forearms. The spot on my neck is black and the spots on my chest and arms are red. I went to the minute clinic (given prednisone) and the rash dried up (dark spot remained) and the red spots went away. About 3 weeks later and the itchiness returned and the red spots returned in the exact same spots on my arms and chest. Went to my pcp, given an injection and prednisone again. Again the rash on my arms went away the the one on my neck dried and the black spot remained. Tonight....its happening again. The red spots are showing on my arms and my neck is itchy. My dr ruled out rickettsia and lyme disease and my blood revealed elevated mpv at 12.7. Any clue?

Hello,

As per your case history, you are having pityriasis rosea. My treatment advice is -
1. Don't scratch the lesions as it may worsen the condition.
2. Apply an antibiotic plus steroid cream like fusiderm-b cream twice daily.
3. Take an anti-histamine medication like levocetirizine twice daily.

If problem persists then consult a dermatologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
