What Causes Recurrent Inner Ear Infection While Having Hypothyroidism?
Hi, I am a 36 year old male School Teacher. My known medical diagnoses are hypothyroidism and visual spectrum disorder. My eye disorder causes me to tilt my head back often when looking forward. During spring break my family and I was on the beach fishing and when we got ready to leave my equilibrium was a little off and neck sore but I ignored it. The next morning I tried to get out of bed and when I sat up I became very dizzy and nausea consumed me. I visited my doctor and was treated for an inner ear infection. Completed the meds, felt better for a few days now symptoms are back again. Saw doctor today and she is sending me for some form of Physical Therapy to take care of this inner ear issue. Oh! I assumed neck pain was not an issue since it is always a little sore from my tilting it back to see better. Please share your thoughts. They are very much appreciated.
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of recurrent inner ear infection while having hypothyroidism which could be due to accumulation of wax and infection in ear and it could be due to fluid accumulation behind the eardrum
Need not to worry. I would suggest you to consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated. Go for otoscopic examination and start treatment accordingly. Go for drainage of fluids as well.
-You should maintain proper hygiene.
- Avoid touching and pricking it with any sharp object.
- Put otogesic ear drops in ear.
- For infection in ear oral antibiotics as well as antibiotic ear drops.
