What Causes Recurrent Episodes Of Slurred Speech?

Frequent repeating, slowed cognitive abilities or confusion, silliness or childlike behavior, hands shaking, and at least one episode of slurred speech. Behavior seems to be more prevalent in late afternoon or evening. At first look, person would appear drunk but alcohol and drugs not probable.

Hello,

Slurred speech commonly occurs when a person is stressed up. Abnormally high anxiety & stress causes co-ordination & thinking problems.

It complicates to slurring speech which is indicative of neurological problem developing. Help the patient get relieve from stress & anxiety.

Since he has a history of recurrent episodes of slurring speech it can be a sign of stroke. Weakness of the muscles of the face, slurring of speech, lack of proper co-ordination are the symptoms.

Get him physically examined, get CT, MRI, Blood tests, ECG, Carotid USG & Cerebral Angiography done. The treatment will depend upon the severity of illness detected.
