A few weeks ago, I had trouble with my ears, they were congested and I experienced some tinnitus. I used waxsol to get rid of wax in my ears, thinking that was the problem. It relieved the symptoms for a week or so, but then the congested feeling returned worse than before. I tried waxsol again, but must have handled my ear too much or something as it became severely inflamed and was swollen shut and very painful. Te pharmacy recommended Aurone drops to clear the inflammation, which they did. However, the congested feeling still remained. I then went to the clinic and the sister there checked out my ears, finding no wax. She suggested that the problem could be swelling of the Eustachian tubes or fluid behind the eardrum and recommended that I take sinutab to see if that relieved the symptoms. After being on sinutab since Friday, the congestion has mostly gone away, only returning infrequently and in the mornings, but there is a feeling of intense pressure and the need to “pop” my ears, which thus far has been unsuccessful, even though I have tried several methods including yawning, moving my jaw, swallowing and the Valsalva maneuver. Do you have any advice for me? I read online that it can take 3 months to clear, I can’t really afford doctors’ fees and am not on medical aid, so should I just wait it out?
