What Causes Reaction To Sun Exposure While On Letrozole?

I am on Letrozole, daily and have had a severe reaction to sun exposure. While sitting or walking in the sun (having used SPF 30 Sunscreen) after showering, I had areas of dark re skin in blotchy patterns. Have lived in the South for 13 years and have never reacted to the sun in this way. Finished radiation May 2014 and started Letrozole that same month. Is this a common side-effect of this medication?

Dear Patient,
Thanks for your concern about your health.
Welcome to HealthCareMagic.

I will answer your question by stating that Letrozole has a very rare side effect in some people, which leads to skin discoloration. The kind of skin lesions that you have are probably "erythrema multiforme". It is a known and very rare side effect of letrozole.

I suggest that you go to a dermatologist, (a skin doctor), just to be sure.
I would say that you are on the safe side, and the rash will go away in time.

You might want to follow the above suggestions.
