What Causes Raw, Swollen And Red Lips?

I have been getting raw, somewhat swollen & red lips. They get this way for a couple days then get better then begin bothering me again. After the raw phase, they get rough and peely. It s almost like i can feel them swollen on the inside around my teeth. They almost feel blisters (on the worst days) but there aren t any noticeable blisters. I had a small thin line (on inner, upper lip around tooth line) that looked like blood blisters.

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hi.
As per your case history you are having cheilitis.
My treatment advice is -
1. Take good nutritious diet full of green leafy vegetables and milk.
2. Apply a lip balm with sunscreen once a day.
3. Take a vitamin b12 supplement once daily for 3 months.
4. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics, multivitamins taken only after consulting a dermatologist.

Thanks.
Dr. Harshit bhachech.
