What Causes Rashes On The Forehead Along With Cough And Low Grade Fever?
My 14 month old granddaughter woke up with what looked like little bug bites on her forehead this morning. She has a little cough and a low grade fever of 99.1. She was taken to the doctor this morning and told she was working on a virus. This afternoon the little bumps have turned into welts. No other sites have appeared. Doctor said it was not chicken pox or Hand Foot and Mouth. What kind of virus would this be?
Hand foot and mouth disease would normally cause a rash on the hands, feet and mouth though it can also occur in other areas as well. Some children may also experience a rash on the buttocks as well.
Many children are immunized against chicken pox and it is possible that she may have already received her shot.
Rashes can occur with many viral illness, this is called a viral exanthem. They can even occur with the flu or cough/cold , in some cases. This means that it would be difficult to say the exact source of her viral infection.
IN most cases, the viral exanthem resolves with or soon after resolution of the other symptoms.
I hope this helps
