What Causes Rashes On Arms, Chest And Groin Despite Taking Prednisone?

Hi. I have an unexplained rash that is popping up in different areas starting on my neck, then right arm, face, chest, now top of thigh and in groin area. Doctor gave me heavy dose of Prednisone by injection, and a 12 day regimen. I have no explanation as nothing new in life in terms of diet, detergents, anything. Is this viral? It continues to pop up and has been doing so for 10 days. Original areas from the beginning are starting to fade...

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of rashes on arms, chest and groin despite taking Prednisone. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like allergic reaction, side effect, sensitivity to sunlight , eczema , psoriasis or seborrheic dermatitis. It could be due to frictional heat produced inside body. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to keep the site clean and dry , apply over the counter antibiotics ointment , take over the counter antihistamine like benadryl and protect it from sun ray exposure. apply cold compresses and do not touch or prick these rashes. If condition doesn't get well then consult dermatologist for proper examination . Doctor may prescribe corticosteroid ointment , antibiotics or immunosuppressants .
