What Causes Rashes And Itching On The Body After Stopping Betnovate-N?

Hi Doctor,I have been using Betnovate-N cream for 3years and now from three weeks I stopped using it. I am facing problems like rashes,itching,dryness,redness.I consulted a doctor.he gave some medicines.I used them.but after that I observe this problems again. What should I do to overcome this problems . Is this is temporary problem or permenent problem?

Betnovate is a steroid ointment and long term use of steroid ointment can have deleterious side effects over skin like rashes,pimples, itching, pigmentation etc..
The skin also gradually becomes dependant on the steroids and as you stop using the ointment suddenly you suffer withdrawal side effects..
You should consult a Physician and get evaluated.
He can advise you a proper tapering method of steroid withdrawal..
For now take anti allergics like Levocetrizine to reduce rashes and itching.
Apply Caladryl or calamine lotion..
Take cold water showers or do cool packs over the skin..
