What Causes Rashes All Over Body After Taking Cefdinir For Ear Infection?

Hello, we have 7 yrs old son with fever for last 2 days. We have been to urgent care today and they found ear infection plus redness in the throat. He threw up couple of times last night. Doctor prescribed a CEFDINIR 250 mg twice a day. He took first dose an hour ago and seems like he got rash all over his body. Fever still present and sore throat. He is alergic to penicilin. Please help...

I have gone through your query and can understand..

As per your complain it seems that you have got an allergic reaction to Cefdinir that comes under cephalosporines leading to rashes..
You should immediately stop giving the medicine and consult your treating physician or an Allergist and get evaluated..
In case if he is already allergic to Penicillin also he can be advised other group of antibiotics like Ciprofloxcin, gentamycin etc, but only after an allergic testing to rule out for antibiotics that are safe and not causing allergy..
As of now you can give him anti-allergics like Benadryl and also apply a steroid ointment over the rashes and do cool compresses over rashes..
