Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 17 month old had a weird rash on her back upper thigh today. Curvy, streaky, bright red, slightly raised (almost like what you see when someone is stung by a poisonous jellyfish - alas, we live in Canada and she woke up with it this morning). No individual bumps. We noticed it after we took off her PJs to change her after breakfast. Lasted for a couple hours but faded somewhat. She has very sensitive skin and eczema (we think). Any suggestions as to what the rash could be?
Understanding your concern. As per your query your child have symptoms of rash on upper thigh which is due to allergic reaction. It could be due to infection of hair follicles leading to folliculitis. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to take oral tablets of Terbinafine for 1 week. You should maintain proper hygiene of area. You should visit dermatologist once and get it examined and start treatment after proper prescription. You should start proper course of medications after complete examination. Do Not touch or prick it with any sharp object. Take tablet of cetirizine 10 mg once daily for symptomatic relief from itching. Apply moderately potent topical steroid of triamcinolone acetonide 0.1% cream twice daily at affected sites.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
