General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

The most likely medication used by the doctor you consulted is a steroid. It is likely that you are suffering from dermatitis. The underlying cause can be ruled out by doing diagnostic test like allergy comprehensive profile, a blood test which measures levels of antibodies produced by the body against common allergens.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
