What Causes Rash All Over The Body After Taking Amoxicillin?

Can you direct me in finding out about a possible allergic reaction to drug amoxicilian? It is a 4 year old child that suddenly has broken out in a rash over the entire body with no other signs of complications other than being treated for bronchitis with amoxicilan which is the 6th day of the treatment.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Welcome to HCM.
I understand your concern.
The rash can be due to reaction to Amoxicillin or due to some viral infection.
Rash of Amoxicillin will be itchy and will diminish on stopping Amoxicillin along with taking anti histamine.
Rash of viral infection will be associated with symptoms like running nose, redness of eyes and fever.
For now, you should stop Amoxicillin and consult your doctor for further management.
Hope this will be helpful.
Do ask if any further questions are there.
Take care.
