What Causes Rapid Heart Rate With Shortness Of Breath And Chest Pain?

My 16 year old has had two episodes of sudden onset of rapid heart rate, sortness of breat chest pain, pain with inspiration that feels like burning in abdomen. his d-dimer was high at the ER his EKG was normal. his resting HR was between 40-80. his face was flushed and he feels very week. they sent us home at told us to follow up with a cardiologist. his cardiac enzymes were negative

Hello! Thank you for asking on HCM! Regarding your concern i would recommend you perform a cardiac ultrasound and an ambulatory 24-48 hours ECG monitoring. Sure that a cardiologist consult is necessary. Heart rhythm disturbances should be excluded and possible pericardial inflammation ruled out. Hope to have been helpful to you. Greetings!
