What Causes Rapid Heart Rate Along With Weakness While On Prednisone?

hello, thank you for taking my question. I have been experiencing weakness and periodically a rapid heart rate with the weakness. I have been on prednisone for the past year for the treatment of arthritis. I noticed that when I tapered down to 5mg s I began to experience the weakness. My arthritis doctor tells me it s not the prednisone. What are your thoughts?

Hi.

I concur with your doctors, tapering off prednisone should not result in weakness, and it should be something else. Probably reasons like anaemia, nutritional deficiencies (e.g. vitamin D deficiency), etc. I would recommend a more elaborate evaluation to find the cause.
