What Causes Random Body Pain In A Person With Type 2 Diabetes?

I am 34 and I have Diabetes Type 2, and I have random pain. It feels like someone stabs me but then as quick as it hits me it goes away. But It makes me jump and takes my breath away. but then boom I am fine again. Should I worry or is this just a hey your getting older thing. I hate to go to the dr. since my co-pays are so high.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi there! Thanks for trusting in HCM. I am Dr. Saddiq and I looked into your query. I would like to make few comments in that regard.
1. You are just 34, and it is not considered as old enough to give you symptoms like these...This is not an old age either. You are hopefully going to have a prosperous life ahead, with a better control of your diabetes.
2. Your symptoms can be due to uncontrolled diabetes though, as insulin which is normally needed for uptake of glucose present inside your body for the use by your muscles and other organs, develops its insensitivity in type 2 diabetes, hence the uptake of your sugars inside blood is by converting it into an alcohol substitute of sugar called sorbitol, which is normally converted back into its sugar form in almost every part of your body except nerves and eyes, and can present like pains in different ares of the body. My suggestion would be a good diabetic control, Healthy diet plan, exercise, a multivitamin specially those containing vitamin B12, B6, D, folic acid and calcium supplements. For symptomatic relief you can start pregabbalins or Gaba-pentins in 100mg capsule before sleep after discussing with your doctor.
3. My last reassuarnce is based on the fact you mentioned, that you hate visiting a doctor. Your diabetes needs a better control and that may need repeated visits to a good doctor, who can guide you well for a better control, so that you should live a healthy life without any complication of diabetes in future. After all your health is the most important issue and should be a priority over all other things. Wishing you a healthy life ahead. Chao.
