What Causes Raised Red Bumps Around Area Of Needle Insertion?

Little raised red bumps around site of needle poke from blood drive? They didn t get any blood (after a lot of poking, pulling the needle back but not completely out and pushing further in, wiggling while still inside) and said that the vein collapsed. These bumps are not itchy. (The blood drive was a day ago)

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi, thanks for using healthcare magic

The bumps indicate that the area may be inflamed/irritated from the trauma that you experienced to the site.

They should resolve on their own within a few days but if you wish to hasten the process, you can use an anti inflammatory agent such as ibuprofen, cataflam, naproxen.

I hope this helps
