What Causes Raised Pale Skin Patches Between Buttocks?

I am an African American male and I discovered some skin patches between my buttocks that are lighter in color and slightly raised. I have a medium brown skin tone. No redness, itching are tenderness, just the discoloration and slight raised appearance. I have used perfume oils that seemed to irritate the area and I stopped. I also have had anal sex. What could this be?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of raised pale skin patches between buttocks which seems to be due to contact dermatitis . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like swollen lymph nodes, allergic reaction , psoriasis , skin infection , sun allergy or fungal infection. I would suggest you to keep your skin clean and dry and protect it from sun. Apply only petroleum jelly and take antihistamine like benadryl twice a day. If condition doesn't get well then consult dermatologist for proper examination. Doctor may prescribe immunosuppressants along with anti inflammatory and corticosteroid ointment. Doctor may order certain test like skin patch test , blood test , allergy test and take history to rule out the side effects of certain drug . Wear loose cloths and do not scratch them.
