What Causes Raised Bump At The Incision Site Of Appendix Removal?

I had my appendix removed and a hernia on my belly button at the same time. This was two months ago. Ever so often I get a raised bump that looks like a welt beside my Incision and it gets red and itchy. Usually only lasts a day and goes away. Any ideas what this could be?

hi,
thanks for writing to hcm.
red itchy bumps at the site of surgical incision is common after surgeries due to excessive fibrous tissue accumalation as a process of healing at the site of stitches. you could consult your surgeon who operated on you regarding this. he might give you an antiallergic ointment. i hope you have taken your full course of antibiotics prescribed during surgery.
take care
