Hi im a 27 year old male, i was prescribed 20mg omeprazole 13 days ago and have been taking twice a day as required as ive been diagnosed with eosinophilic oesophagitis. On day 9 a large firm painfull spot/boil/cyst appeared on my back pkus very red tender skin around it, ive never had any experiences of this before. I tried squeezing to see if puss came out but nothing. Any ideas
Pus filled blister on the back is commonly caused due to infection of the hair follicle (boil), pimple, cyst, carbuncle or dermatofibroma (skin growth). Get clinically examined by a GP and get a biopsy, apart from the other required tests and investigations. A boil or carbuncle is commonly incised and drained. Antiseptic dressing is done and a course of antibiotics and analgesics is given for faster healing.
A cyst is removed by surgery and treated with antiseptic dressing and given medications. Get it treated at the earliest. In the meantime, you can take NSAIDs, after food to get rid of pain, inflammation and soreness. Control your blood glucose level for faster and better healing.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
