Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My husband has purple spots on back of both knee bends. One is the size of a quarter the other one the size of a child s fist. Last year he had a mosaic porcine heart valve put in. He also has sleep apnea but will not wear his mask. Why are the back of the knees purple? He had one groin hernia operation but needs the other side operated on too.
Thank you for providing the brief history of you. As mentioned by you regarding the history of the child as valve replacement and also the hernia of the groin, The purple spots as per me needs to be checked once by a physician. Also, as the child does not use the mask, due to the lack of oxygen there might be the changes in the skin color which is also indicative of the need of oxygen. Providing the oxygen with regular intervals will surely help improve the situation. Also, as you mentioned the child has undergone the hernia operation, then due to any vascular compromise there may be a chances of the other vascular symptoms. Getting check is advised.
I will recommend to get the child check as no such situation should be avoided post valve replacement.
With the grace of God i wish the child the good health in the future.
