What Causes Purple Colored Line On Sides Of Belly Button?

Hello, Recently I have started to notice a small red/purple line(appears to be almost like a stretch mark) on the side of my belly button, After a few days now I am starting to experience discomfort while sitting or walking down stairs, I work as a courier and my job is physically demanding. Is it possible this may be a hernia.

In the hernia of the belly button area, the belly button swells and then causes secondary skin changes. In your history there is no any sign of swelling over the belly button are also the part of possibility of the hernia is out.
Many a times this kind of purple colored line on sides of belly button is seen due to friction or related trauma to the skin. You just check whether your belt or anything in clothes touching and causing friction at the area. If still you observe the area to be increasing then can take further guidance from your treating family physician or dermatologist.
