What Causes Purple Blotchy Rash On Inner Thighs While Having Elevated BP?

I have a purple blotchy rash that doesn t itch or bother on my inner thighs. I also have mildly elevated blood pressure and intermittent upper right quadrant pain as well as itching feet. I had preeclampsia with my first pregnancy. Should I be worried about the rash?

Hello,

Since you have a history of hypertension and presently experiencing purple blotchy rash on the inner side of the thigh, it can be due to venous hypertension presenting as purpura spots. Purple rashes can be indicative of small blood vessels burst, blood clotting factor issues, purpura rashes are commonly benign but sometimes if left untreated may cause serious life threatening issues.

You are suggested to get clinically examined by a GP, get all required blood tests and investigations done to detect the factor causing discomfort. You will be treated accordingly. In the meantime, for relief, you can apply cool compress. Do not touch or scratch. Take adequate rest. Do not unnecessarily strain your legs and thighs.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
