Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

UNDERSTANDING YOUR CONCERN.

Brief answer - Oral Mucocele

Detailed answer - As per your query after oral sedation your child bite on lip which caused local trauma in that area which in turn caused rupturing of salivary gland ducts, which caused accumulation of mucus in that area and due to blood accumulation it become purplish in color.

I would suggest you to take a few preventive measures such as apply tea tree oil on it, it will cause shrinkage of mucocele. Apply alum for 3 times a day for around 2 weeks it will completely go away. Keep cleaning area with Listerine mouth wash.

If your son's symptoms didn't resolve in around 1 month you can get it surgically removed as well. Cryotherpay and laser are other treatment options but after proper oral examination.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
