What Causes Prolonged Vaginal Bleeding After Insertion Of Mirena IUD?

Hi, I got the Mirena IUD inserted last wednesday, however i am still bleeding a little and was wondering prior to getting the Mirena my DR prescribed me Primolut to help with the bleeding, can i take this for a few days to give me a break from the bleeding?

Hi,

Excessive bleeding can sometimes happen after insertion of IUD. Nothing much to worry and it will settle by itself.

As the first line of management, you can take drugs like Tranexamic Acid for symptomatic relief.

If symptoms persist you can consult a gynecologist and get evaluated.
