What Causes Prolonged Menstrual Discharge Post Miscarriage?
I had a miscarriage (naturally) three weeks ago and I m still bleeding. The amount of bleeding has come down quite a bit and but there s still no sign of it going away soon. My blood is still bright red. Lately, for the last week, I have been experiencing some headaches and dizziness. It comes and goes at different times. What does this mean? And how much longer am I going to keep bleeding?
Hi there, Welcome to HCM. I have read the details you mentioned. Persistent bleeding after a natural miscarriage may suggest some retained products. Many a times, abortion is not complete and there may be some tissue left inside the uterus. This may lead to continuous discharge after miscarriage. Retained products can lead to infection and other complications including infertility later on. You should not bleed more than a week if the abortion was complete but it is not like that in your case so you should undergo ultrasound examination of uterus. A dilatation & curettage may be needed if there are retained products. Please consult your gynecologist for the same. I hope this will be helpful. Please let me know if you have further questions. Take care.
