What Causes Pounding Heartbeats?

I can feel my heartbeat several times a day. EKG is normal with exception to RBBB. No pain or other symptoms. Woke up other night to pounding heartbeat and rate a little higher than my usual rest rate (rest 64...pounding at 88). Got up for water, returned to bed, and pounding settled. Not sure what is going on. Also happens after eating large meals. Can exercise normally and recover normally. No exhaustion or shortness of breath. saw heartbeat in front of neck other night after dinner

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi
Thanks for posting on HCM
In most people, RBBB is asymptomatic and may not need treatment.Pounding heartbeat in someone with RBBB will need that the underlying cause be investigated and treated.Possible causes may include: A heart attack (myocardial infarction), A viral or bacterial infection of the heart muscle (myocarditis), High blood pressure with other causes being less likely in your case.
I will suggest you see a Cardiologist for investigation.Even if no particular treatment recommended yet, regular checks by the Cardiologist will be very important. If any BP issues, a good control will be very important.
Hope my answer will help you
Best regards
