What Causes Positive For Inducible Ischaemia In A Treadmill Test?

Hello My Name is Shrey. Recently my father has undergone the threadmill test and he told me that he was really tensed while undergoing the test and the result was positive inducible ischaemia. Actually he is very active, can climb stairs of three floors without any problem, he can run long distances without experiencing any angina. He never sweats excessively and his cholesterol level is also normal then what could be the problem why the thread mill test result is positive inducible ischaemia? Can anybody please clarify?

Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Sometimes in healthy individuals as well it can be positive. Since the test is positive we can't neglect it. Its also possible that patient is having heart blockages with symptoms. There are two options either to go ahead with angiography to look for blockages, it's a definitive and gold standard or doing other stress test like stress thallium. If it's negative then we will be assured.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Sagar
