What Causes Popping Sound In Legs While Walking Of A Herniated Disc Patient?

My 37-year-old son has been dealing with sciatica from his hip to foot for most of 8 months. He has aL4S1 herniated disc. He has also developed a popping sound with each step he takes. Will that popping sound go away after surgery to repair the herniated disc ?

Hello,
Thank you for your trust in HCM.

A popping sound means your son has also developed gaps most probably in knee joint, or ankle joint. In our OPD setups we advise patients to go for an XRay Knee and Ankle, AP and Lat view, and MRI knee to confirm. A surgical correction or fluid insertion may be needed to resolve this. In most case scenario, its not related to your sciatica.

Thanks
