What Causes Popping Sound And Intense Pain In Rib Area After A Fracture?

I have a fractured rib every time I move, breath,somtimes when I talk I feel a poping sound in the broken rib area followed by sharp pain is this normal to have with this injury? can I wrap area with ace bandage to help with pain, this is the second day and still very painful.

Hello and welcome to HCM,
Rib fracture is accompanied by pain in the chest region.
The treatment of rib fracture is strapping, rest and pain killers.
However, the X-ray of chest needs to be done to confirm the lesion.
I suggest you to consult your primary healthcare provider for clinical assessment and relevant investigations.
Rib fracture causes pain and movements like breathing, coughing, laughing etc exaggerate the pain.
Popping sound needs to be investigated.
Non-union or mal-union can be the cause of popping sound.
X-ray of the chest will help to determine non-union or mal-union.
