What Causes Poor Weight Gain?

Hi.I used to eat cement and whitewash an year ago
now i have successfully left the habit.
but my body is not growing according to my age
i m now 20 years old and i m skinny.
so i want to ask is it because of eating cement and whitewash? If so,then what should i do now?
If not then why is it and how can i improve?

Hello,

1. As there is a history of eating cement/whitewash thus probably it points towards iron deficiency anemia but without being able to take a proper history and examine you directly, I'm of the following opinion:

1. Although you have mentioned the weight but not about your Height which will help assesses your BMI [body mass index].

2. Any history of Allergy, acid reflux or malabsorption can result in non-absorbing of nutrients and not gaining weight.

3. Take an opinion of your primary care doctor who after a thorough examination can refer you either to a Medicine Specialist or a Haematologist for CBC [complete blood culture] and stool test and only thereafter specific management can be started, till then:
i. Encourage outdoor games and exercises like running, swimming, Yogasanas, Surya-namaskar.
ii. Take protein rich diet (legumes sprouted pulses/cereals, milk with protein powder (which are required for manufacturing of antibodies).
iii. Take vitamin A,B,C,E in the diet which helps in strengthening the immune system.
iv. self-expressed juice of white onion 6ml with honey in the morning and good sleep after meals

1. first deworming is essential: make powder of raw mango seed and take 250mg with yogurt or water empty stomach in morning for three days (AVOID: cucumber, long cucumber, raw fruits, potato, meat, sugar, sour foods, milk, jaggery, clarified butter for 15 days) and give walnut, pineapple, and peach.

2. There after improving digestion:
- Avoid: heavy, slimy food (initially)along with fetid odor and unpleasant sight and give old rice (1 year old but not diseased), green gram, fresh green vegetables, banana, pomegranate, garlic, ginger, raisins, black pepper, clarified butter, buttermilk, regular brushing of teeth and tongue cleaning, bathing, lemon, salt, mint, morning walk.
