What Causes Pink Eyes, Fever, Headache, Lethargy And Urinary Retention In A Child?
my grandson is 3 yrs old. his symptoms sterted 4 days ago with pink eyes and slight fever. The following day he started complaining of headache and the temperature started to rise to 101. The next day the fever kept on rising. today his temperature reached 104.9 and his last urine output was at 11 am ( now is 9:43pm). He refures to eat and drink but accepts the breast milk from his mother. He is lethargic and not playfull at all. We have been alternating between motrin and tylenol every 4 hrs, the temperature lowers for a short time and than starts to spike again. Can this be only a virus?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hello,
Your grandson seems to have urine infection needs a child specialist's opinion after a thorough physical examination & urine test.
Only Tylenol &motrin will not help him. He needs some antibiotic for combating fever and let the doctor decide about it.
Try to give some food, water to the baby. Give water & liquid at least 1& 1/2 glass daily. Continue with medications advised by the doctor. She will be back to normal soon.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
