What Causes Persistent Vomiting?
Hi. I am looking for assistance for my partner who has been vomiting consistently for days, going on 3 weeks. As background, we are currently living overseas in Ecuador, and he has recently started a new job where he is involved with grinding metal into parts for the repair of printers. He started this job about the same time symptoms started. He has also recently been going for vaccination shots since his vaccination records have been entirely lost, and he has had shots for Yellow Fever, MMR, Hep A+B, and DTap so far. He is a healthy, slim, active 26-year old male. He has no known allergies, does not smoke, and has no cough or other major cold/flu symptoms, such as runny nose, fever, etc. He claims his stomach does not hurt, nor his throat. The only thing he can describe is that saliva/mucus/phlegm won t go down. Every time he swallows it, it feels thick and stuck in his throat behind his Adam s apple area. He constantly has to spit it out and has now regularly been gagging and vomiting the mucus and sometimes his whole stomach contents. This is now happening several times a day. Note, as for food, the food seems to go down okay, just not the mucus; however, the vomiting and gagging seems to be more intense just after eating, but this is not always the case. We have switched food types daily, but cannot find any trend that could be clearly allergy related. We have tried an antihistamine, but have had no results. We need help to know what to do next. We don t really speak Spanish well, but we have identified 3 ENT doctors here in Ecuador that speak English. Is this the right specialist to see? Should we be trying antibiotics? Do we need to see an allergy specialist? Could this be candida? Any information or ideas would be great. The situation is getting very scary.

My Primary Opinion-
In My opinion, in the given situation you seem to suffer from-GERD with ?IBS.
Dear,the change in location and diet is mostly causing Acid reflux with gagging and spitting of thick mucus from throat.
Vomitting contains mucus,which is more after eating.This confirms the Acute/Chronic gastritis -mostly from food induced IBS(Irritable Bowel Syndrome)
Do's Suggested-
Get Stool checked, to rule out giardia / amoebiasis.
You would need Consults with Surgeon, to fix the causes of IBS, like piles, fissure/ Procto-colitis, and to treat it along with acid reflux treatment- with PPI-like pantoprazole with Domperidone.
Tab Dicyclomine 1- x 2 times a day would reduce the pains accompanied with it.
Antibiotics with metronidazole/ Avoidance of fried, nonveg food for 1 week,
Butter milk 2 times a day, rice/yoghurt vegan diet,with less of solids and more of liquids for 1-week would give early reliefs in this matter.
