Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi One of my friend started with sudden loose motion and vomiting since early morning at 4:00 am..what ever she eats or drink comes out.. this has happened thrice since this morning.. please advise what shdiest you advise for breakfast and for the meal as well. Thanks & Regards xxxxxx
From the query, I got that your friend is suffering from acute gastroenteritis. Contaminated food intake or water may be the reason for acute infection. Antibiotics are advised for the period of minimum three to five days to cure the condition. Since there is no oral intake, intravenous fluids are advised to maintain the homeostasis which helps to overcome the infection.
Soft, non spicy and fat free diet is good for acute gastroenteritis. Since there is fluid and salt loss both from vomitting and diarrhoea, both should be replenished to prevent the progression of infection. Antibiotics, intravenous fluids, oral rehydration solution are the necessary management options in acute gastroenteritis. Follow fresh and healthy diet practices to prevent similar episodes.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Pradeepraj, General & Family Physician
