Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of persistent redness and soreness in the tonsils which seems to be due to inflammation in tonsils known as tonsillitis and can occur due to bacterial or viral Infection. Need not to worry about it.

I would suggest to :-

- Do warm saline rinses several times a day .

- Maintain proper oral hygiene.

- Avoid oily and fried food.

- Take steam inhalation to have immediate relief.

- Avoid cold carbonated beverages.

- Take advil for pain and swelling .

Take combination of antibiotic Amoxicillin 500 mg for 3-5 days. You should visit ENT specialist once and go for through examination and go for blood test as well. If symptoms keeps on persisting go for removal of tonsils( tonsilectomy).

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Get Well Soon.

Best Wishes,
Dr. Harry Maheshwari
