Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Persistent Pain Under The Ribcage Radiating To The Back?
My daughter who is 22 years old is working in Shanghai Chin for one year. She has been there for 7 months and has been complaining of pain under her ribcage on the right side or the left side. Sometimes it wraps around to her back. She has been to the hospital there but communication is tough. They told her not to wear tight clothes and thought it was her ribs. It is not her ribs. The only thing I can add is that I know her diet has not been healthy. Does this sound serious?
We will try to help you in the best way possible. First of all, it's sad to know what your daughter had been going through lately. Based on the history you have shared, she needs to have chest X-ray and local examination by a primary care physician.
Chest pathology needs to be worked up alongside abdominal ultrasound especially at the right hypochondriac area which is below right ribs. Meanwhile, OTC analgesics like acetaminophen can help with the symptoms. Wishing her a speedy recovery.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
