Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have started having pain in my right heel about 2 months ago. It hurts most first thing in the morning or when I have been sitting for a while. Very painful until I walk around for a little bit. Tried gel heel inserts but they haven't helped. Possible cause of pain?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have persistent pain in right heel . Well the symptoms you mention in query can occur due to may reasons like plantar fasciitis and achilles tendinitis . But there can be other reasons also like heel spur , gout , osteomyelitis , rheumatoid arthritis and wrong foot placement . I would suggest you to consult a Podiatrist or an Orthopedician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like x ray, MRI Scan, blood test etc can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly. Doctor may also ask you to walk to check your walking and treat you according to diagnosis outcome . For now you can put you foot in hot water tub for 15 minutes with epsom salt daily . Orthotics and Night splints can also be advised.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
