What Causes Persistent Pain In Neck Below The Ear?

I have had a pain in my neck for about 4 hours. It started just below my ear and now is just a little lower near my jaw. When I touch it I can feel my pulse. A friend said it might have something to do with getting an ear infection but I m worried it may be something more serious since it is constant pain.

Hi, thanks for using healthcare magic

Constant pain in this area may be related to the ear as suggested or due to inflammation of other structures in this area such as the muscles.

You can consider the use of anti inflammatory pain killers to see if this helps and monitoring the pain. This includes medications such as aspirin, naproxen, ibuprofen, cataflam.

If the pain worsens or is associated with other symptoms that concern you , then you should see your doctor for an assessment.

I hope this helps
