What Causes Persistent Pain In Abdomen In A Toddler?

My four year old is always complaining of a sore tummy and has off and on for about a year now. Before during and after meals is when it is worse. Recently when he had a horse riding lesson he complained as he was bouncing up and down and it hurt his sore tummy. Could it be serious? Any ideas?

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hello,

There are a lot of reasons for the sore tummy. If the child is playful and not having fever or vomiting then no need to worry.

Give a deworming tablet every 6 months. avoid packed food items. If you think if the pain is genuine you can do USG abdomen.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Rajmohan, Pediatrician
