What Causes Persistent Mild Pain In Lower Tailbone?
The very end of my tailbone hurts. It is a dull constant pain at all times when I sit for long periods of time at work, and when I have to travel for more than 2 hours without stopping to get out and walk, the pain worsens. I have not fallen, I have not been in an accident. I am embarrassed to tell my doctor

General & Family Physician, Dr. Nishad BN's Response
Hi Thank you for asking HCM I have gone through your query. Your problem can be most likely coccydynia (pain associated with inflammation or irritation of coccyx bone). Repetitive stress injury or due to fall on lower back can be the cause. Severe constipation also can give such pain. Avoid constipation. Take stool softeners , drink more plain water and take food high in fiber if you have it. You can also use a doughnut pillow while sitting to avoid stress on coccyx bone. You can also take over the counter NSAIDs like ibuprofen. But this condition still persist then better to get it examined by an Orthopedician. You may need to do X ray and MRI if necessary to confirm the condition and rule out other problems. Local corticosteroid injections and physiotherapy will be helpful in such case.
Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear. Thanks.
